BotanicBoost Patented Nicotine Alternative Biotechnology.

BotanicBoost® is the proprietary technology behind the product development program at Sentiens, LLC, which is incorporated into the NX and Twig® by Novus, as well as other products currently under joint development.

Utilizing a large body of established scientific research on the body’s sensory system, the NX platform technology allows us to create specially formulated mixtures of naturally occurring ingredients that when combined can activate receptors in the central nervous system sending signals to the brain that trigger reflexes in the body. These reflexes are strongly linked to memory and can evoke feelings of pleasure and satisfaction. These sensory responses are relevant for food enjoyment and nutrition, or pleasant thermo-sensations. Examples include developed liking for the distinct sharpness or pungency of many foods that can result in craving for these foods, or the pleasant sensation of cool by menthol.

Reduced Toxicity Filter (RTF) Patented Biotechnology.

NX uses a patented reduced toxicity filter technology that is FDA approved for biomedical use and proven to reduce carbon monoxide and other harmful particles in cigarette smoke.

The patented biotechnology has been independently tested to show an average reduction in mutagenicity of 52% compared to a standard acetate filter.  It was also tested to show an average reduction in carbon monoxide of 23% compared to a standard filter.

NX filter incorporates various chemical compounds into the filter, including copper or iron phthalocyanine, as well as a polycationic polymer.  The cellulose filter material is treated with these and other compounds through specialized dyes, which give the filter a distinguishing appearance.  The dyes include the chemical compounds and assist in efficiently treating the filters.

The compounds are proven to bind and trap particulate from cigarette smoke that can be dangerous when inhaled.  Examples of these harmful substances include polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and nitrosamines, both of which are proven carcinogenics.

NX’s reduced toxicity filters combines a standard acetate filter segment with a segment treated with the specialized dye treated with the chemical compounds.  Our reduced toxicity filter was tested in comparison to a standard filter, both of which were attached to a regular light smoking cigarette for purposes of testing.  The testing showed ADDITIONAL reduction by 52% in mutagenicity and ADDITIONAL 23% in carbon monoxide compared to a standard acetate filter, yet did not affect the flavor or performance.
